How to

When you join ASG you have the opportunity to indulge your love of sewing that means any type, with others who share your interest.  Our San Jose membership is still growing and that means more of you are interested in meeting other sewing friends and getting back to the hobby we all love.  Be sure to talk about our group whenever you are around sewing people, especially those new to this creative outlet!

Many of our new members tell us that if they had only known that ASG had a group like this (or that ASG was even around) they would have joined sooner. Many of them have been looking for “people like themselves” who love to sew.

We currently have 180 members! Welcome to all our new members. By joining the American Sewing Guild (ASG) you can select a local Chapter to be affiliated with and may attend other Chapters as well.

Dying Patterns in Fabric

Our chapter has been serving the San Jose area for 32 years. During this time we have been making sewing friends, sewing garments and quilts, hosting events with speakers like Sandra Betzina, Sarah Veblen, Jacque Goldsmith, Marsha McClintock, Lynda Maynard, Jill Pillot and Lyla Messenger. In the last few years, in conjunction with Seven Trees Community Center, we have provided a no cost five day sewing camp, for young people who are interested in learning how to sew. We invite sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels to participate in our chapter.

Our chapter currently has 8 Neighborhood Groups which meet throughout the months. Please see our Neighborhood Groups area for more detailed information.  Prospective members can visit two meeting before deciding to join the American Sewing Guild (ASG).
