Neighborhood Groups (NG)

San Jose Chapter currently has  8 Neighborhood Groups (NG) in different parts of South Bay from  Menlo Park to Salinas. The Neighborhood Groups are the heart of the American Sewing Guild, and meet monthly to enjoy sewing programs and sharing of ideas. Membership in the ASG entitles you to visit any Neighborhood Group in any part of town. Join today by visiting our national ASG Website.

Groups usually meet once a month. Go to Meeting Schedule for details and for a printable copy of the current meeting details (locations and topics).

Chapter members may attend any or all neighborhood groups, and are encouraged to bring their completed or not so completed sewing projects to neighborhood group (NG) meetings for show and tell.

If you are planning to attend a different NG than your usual one, it is advisable to call ahead or check the website for possible updates, and to verify the meeting and location. A NG may take a field trip, change location, have limited seating or a date change.

Each Neighborhood group has different objectives. Some are general interest, some focus on a particular aspect of sewing or type of sewing. A description of each NG focus and style can be found at Summary of Our Groups.

All “in person” Neighborhood Group meetings, and other meetings, activities and events are canceled until the Chapter Advisor Board (CAB) reevaluates the Covid-19 situation and the guidance of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department.

Some Neighborhood Groups are conducting virtual meetings. If you would like to join in a virtual meeting(we are using Zoom) please send an email to  and a Chapter member will get back to you with details.
